New Orleans Wiggle
The six members of this band, 3 of whom live in the Holme Valley, have known each other and played alongside each other in various jazz bands over the last 40 to 50 years. New Orleans Wiggle, formed by drummer Richard Lord 4 years ago combines his favourite six like thinking musicians who were all inspired decades ago by hearing recordings made in New Orleans of black musicians playing that simple but complex two-beat style of laid back music that comes from the heart to touch the feet. Normally a six piece band but sometimes 4 or 5 depending on the function, we now have the delightful addition of our youngest member, who we overheard singing in a Holmfirth garden - Carolyn Hilton, affectionately named 'Topsy' by our trumpet player. A bluesy voice well worth hearing.
